FAQ:

Q. WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE YOUR SERVICE TO TAKE CARE OF MY PETS?
A.  My best answer is talk to my clients!  I have always had pets in my family: dogs, cats, birds, lizards, frogs, fish, horse(German Warmblood-Hessen mare show jumper, my daughter's horse but my pet!), and recovering wildlife.

Q. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PET SITTER?
A.  I retired from forty years in the Automotive Fleet Sales industry in 2008.  I was one of the past presidents of my national trade organization Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association.  My desire was to do something that I would enjoy and look forward to daily.  The look on the faces of my charges when I come to take care of them warms my heart and puts smiles on my face everyday.

Q. WHY SHOULD I LEAVE MY PETS AT HOME RATHER THAN TAKE THEM TO A KENNEL?
A. Well, if you are like me I hate to leave my pets somewhere they feel uncomfortable or stressed.  Try taking your pet to board at your vet or a kennel without them being nervous.

Q. DO YOU BOARD PETS AT YOUR HOME?
A. No, I come to your home and care for your pets where they are most comfortable.

Q. I DO NOT LIKE THE IDEA OF GIVING SOMEONE ACCESS TO MY HOME WHILE I AM AWAY FOR FEAR THAT SOMETHING BAD MAY HAPPEN.  WHY SHOULD I NOT WORRY ABOUT THIS?
A. A pet sitter that does this for a living should have insurance that will cover Bodily Injury & Property Damage or Loss.  I am insured by Pet Sitters Associates,LLC and would be happy to show my policy upon request prior to signing your sitting contract.  I would prefer someone I trusted and insured to visit my home while I was gone.  A responsible person to keep an eye on my property and pets rather than imposing on my neighbors goodwill.

Q. WHAT ARE YOUR RATES & FEES?  WHAT SHOULD I PLAN ON BUDGETING FOR MY PET SITTING?
A. My basic minimum rate for 30 minutes is $15.00 up to two pets no extra charge.  Depending how far away from Sixes Road you live could have an effect on the rate to cover fuel.  We will deal  with that when we meet for the initial interview with you and your pets.  You will also want to consider how many times a day you want me to come and feed/exercise your pets per day.  I recommend three visits per day so they are not having accidents inside your house.

Q. YOU MENTIONED AN INTERVIEW ABOVE.  WHAT IS AN INTERVIEW ALL ABOUT?
A. When a prospective client calls for information and decides they wish to hire my services I make an appointment to come visit you.  There is no charge for this interview.  It is to make sure you and your pets are comfortable with me and that I may judge my ability to get along and properly care for your pet family.  I will also have a pet sitting contract for you to sign that spells out just what you decide my responsibliities are and the fees associated with those duties.  I will also take down other information such as vet information, food requirements, emergency contacts, individual pet info, house keys, etc.  This only has to be done once for each pet.  Plan for at least one hour for this interview.  The more information you can give me before the interview the less time I will take filling out my forms on my visit.  Email info to jimconner@aol.com or fill out my reply with your crews info.

Q. WHEN DO I PAY FOR YOUR SERVICES?  WHAT DO YOU ACCEPT FOR PAYMENT?
A.  I will request payment for all services at the end of the interview.  I accept cash or personal check.  There is a reason you pay in advance. I have to reserve your time in advance and may refuse other sitting jobs because your reservation filled my schedule
I know things can happen and I will discuss it if it becomes an issue.  I am in business
to make life more enjoyable for you and your pets.

Q. WOULD YOU SPEND THE NIGHT WITH MY PET IF REQUESTED?
A. Yes, providing time is in my schedule.  Some owners have special needs to address and it requires a full nights stay.  Please call and discuss your situation with me.

Q. WHAT GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS DO YOU SERVICE?
A. Acworth north of I75,Canton, Holly Springs, Woodstock, Towne Lake, Victoria, Lebanon, Andersonville.

Q. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED ON A MAP?
A. Just off sixes road in Copper Creek Subdivision.

Past AFLA Presidents – Where Are They Now?

Automotive Fleet & Leasing Association recently began a series of Time Capsule videos of AFLA Past Presidents and their remembrances of their time in office. In putting together this series, we found that a number of past presidents had retired and moved on to other ventures. This gave us an idea to bring the membership up-to-date regarding where they are now and what they are doing.

Jim Conner was AFLA President from 1990 to 1991. After a successful 40 year career in the automotive sales and fleet industry, Jim retired in 2008. Retirement gave Jim the opportunity to begin a pet-sitting/walking service in Canton, GA called Critters & Jitters. “I have always had pets in my family: dogs, cats, birds, lizards, frogs, fish, a horse (German Warmblood-Hessen mare show jumper, my daughter's horse but my pet!) and recovering wildlife.” It was only natural for Jim to take his love for animals to the next level. “I was looking for something that I would enjoy and look forward to doing every day.” It appears that he has found it. “The look on the faces of my charges when I come to take care of them warms my heart.”

Jim’s business is doing well, but more importantly he’s enjoying every minute of it! Good luck, Jim, from all your friends at AFLA.

You can reach Jim through his Web site at crittersjitters.com or by e-mail at jimconner@aol.com.
